RCA jack or composite [a source is not specified 146 days] (also called phono connector, or CINCH/AV connector, and also in popular speech "tulip", "hand bell", the AV socket) — the standard of the socket which is widely applied in audio-and video equipment.
The name RCA came from the name Radio Corporation of America, offered this type of the socket in the early forties for connection of phonographs to amplifiers.
Big lack of such connectors (connectors) is that at connection at first the contact couple of a signal, and only then — cases connects. It can cause damages of devices at the time of connection in the presence of a potential difference between cases (that often occurred at connection of TVs to a TV-exit on video cards) [the source is not specified 124 days].

In inexpensive execution the space between a connector/grip and the rim/case (an internal insulator) is filled with simple plastic or polyethylene — in srednetsenovy, textolite washers or similar of the pressed fiber glass — in expensive, heat-resistant teflon or ceramics.
One of the main shortcomings of inexpensive sockets, is their small thermal stability. The soldering of a cable by mm2 section 0.823 (18 awg) or more, requires very long time of warming up on standard temperatures of melting of solder of 250 °C — or much more big temperatures of a sting of a soldering iron, for the sake of increase in a nakopitelenny thermal capacity of a sting, sometimes up to 500 °C.
Usual plastic or polyethylene quickly melt at such temperatures, and short-circuit the internal conductor with the external case of the socket. It is recommended to watch carefully a socket overheat, or to get with a refractory internal insulator. Especially it is important at a zapayka of extremely heatcapacious copper monoveins, with a diameter more than 0.80 mm (0.502 mm2). Available single-core TV-cables of more bigger section, mm (0.785 mm2) or 1.13 mm (1.002 mm2), and subjectively even more heatcapacious have diameter about 1:00. One of old methods of preservation of an insulator of the inexpensive father socket, its raspayka on obviously new panel socket (on a slang "mother").
